ZARA ROBINSON-MARSHALL

ZARA ROBINSON-MARSHALL
Zara produces both decorative and practical ceramics. Her magpie nature draws from many cultural backgrounds and these diverse aesthetics strongly influence her ceramic work while her pieces are also rooted in contemporary designs.
Both formal and personal training has enriched her work and she utilises a range of building techniques, including throwing, coiling, and hand building.

Zara applies several layers of slips and glazes to create the complex textures and tones for each surface.  Currently Zara is exploring reduction techniques in her Raku kiln, and using coloured oxides and slips to to create colours that can only occur from the chemical reactions during her firing process. Her goal is to produce work that has its own quality and life.
